A few must Reads posted on WDN
I usually don’t reference WDN content directly but I thought these two items were especially interesting and useful.
The first is a System Platform Implementation checklist provided by Wonderware South Africa. They’ve done a great job pulling together a lot of tribal knowledge and compiling it in one place. I learned a handful of new things as I read through it.
Second is a guide to System Platform for IT folks. If you are going to run System Platform on IT infrastructure you might as well work with them to help them understand your requirements. Everyone will be happier in the end.
Both docs are at the top of the list on WDN but here are links in case you come across this article later.

What are your thoughts on hyperthreading in a virtual environment?
I understand disabling hyperthreading when the platform is running on a dedicated piece of hardware, but when a virtualized platform is running on the same host as a number of other virtual machines, hasn’t that ship already sailed? Are there any pros/cons to disabling hyperthreading in this case?
According to the experts you should turn on Hyper-Threading for ESXi. It won’t double your performance but you can get a performance increase. The ESXi CPU scheduler is smart enough to recognize hyperthread cores and schedule appropriately.

HI Andy,
Would it be possible to send me the Checklist. I can get the other document but dont have sufficient access to retrieve the Checklist on the WDN site.
